Voice navigation with Google Maps

Say "Lumyeye, take me to the nearest post office" — Lumyeye Pro opens Google Maps directly with the prepared route. Google Maps then takes over for turn-by-turn guidance. Lumyeye Pro is an assistant, not a substitute for the white cane or guide dog.

Sample transcript and context

"Lumyeye, take me to the nearest post office." Lumyeye Pro recognizes the voice request and opens Google Maps directly with the prepared pedestrian route. From there, Google Maps takes over: turn-by-turn guidance announcements, landmark hints, automatic rerouting if you deviate.

Lumyeye Pro does not intervene in navigation: it simply served as a voice shortcut to launch Google Maps. Compatible with public transit handled by Google Maps based on coverage (in most major cities). Lumyeye Pro launches; Google Maps guides.

Pro feature because the voice command that opens Google Maps without touching the screen is exclusive to Lumyeye Pro. Lumyeye Classic only reads an address. iPhone 16+, $16.99/month.

WARNING: Google Maps guidance is an aid. Lumyeye Pro is an assistant; it does not replace the white cane, guide dog or human alertness, and must not be used to decide when to cross a street.

Frequently asked questions

Voice navigation — your questions.

Does Lumyeye Pro work with public transit routes?

Lumyeye Pro launches Google Maps with your voice request. Google Maps then offers public transit routes (subway, train, bus, tram) based on its own coverage. Lumyeye Pro does not intervene in route computation.

What happens if I deviate from the route?

Google Maps detects the GPS deviation and recomputes a new route automatically. All voice announcements then come directly from Google Maps. Lumyeye Pro does not intervene in navigation: it serves only as a voice shortcut to launch Google Maps from your iPhone.

Are there accessibility-specific modes?

These modes are offered by Google Maps itself: "walking" and "public transit". Set your preferences once in the Google Maps app. Lumyeye Pro does not act on those settings: it simply opens Google Maps with your request, and Google Maps applies your preferences.

How do I trigger the voice route request?

Tap or double-tap anywhere on the screen in Lumyeye Pro to activate listening, then say "Take me to the nearest post office" or "Route to 123 Main Street". Lumyeye Pro opens Google Maps with that request.

Does Lumyeye Pro replace the white cane or guide dog?

No. Lumyeye Pro is a visual assistant; it does not replace the white cane, the guide dog or human alertness. It must not be used to decide when to cross a street.

Testimonial

Karim, 47, Casablanca.

"I'm fully blind. I had to travel alone to a downtown meeting. I asked Lumyeye Pro for the route, Google Maps launched in my AirPod, I followed the turn-by-turn instructions. I arrived 5 minutes early. With my cane, of course — Lumyeye Pro doesn't replace it, it complements it."

Practical tips

Travel safer with Lumyeye Pro + Google Maps.

  1. Always pair with the white cane or guide dog. Lumyeye Pro is an assistant. Mobility safety remains with your cane, dog or O&M training.
  2. Use AirPods or bone-conduction headphones. Keep your ambient hearing free for traffic. AirPods Pro Transparency mode or bone-conduction are ideal.
  3. Set walking mode as default in Google Maps. Open Google Maps once, set Walking as default. Lumyeye Pro picks up your preferences.
  4. Don't cross a street based on AI alone. Lumyeye Pro reads landmarks and gives directions. The decision to cross is yours, with your cane and your hearing.
  5. Ask for the route before leaving home. Triggering it before going out lets you confirm the address and listen to a first overview.
