Local memo: record and replay by voice

Say "memo save" followed by information (wifi code, address, reference number). Later, "memo read" brings it back. Encrypted storage on the iPhone (AES-GCM, Keychain key that never leaves the device). Lumyeye operates no memo server. Semantic search goes through Google Gemini during the request (transparency below).

What is Lumyeye Pro local memo and how does it work?

Voice commandEffect
"memo save [label] [value]"Stores the info locally on the phone.
"memo read [label]"Reads the info aloud.
"list" or "recent memos"Lists the last 5 saved memos aloud (strictly local).
"memo delete [label]"Deletes one memo after confirmation.
"memo delete all"Deletes all memos after strong confirmation.

The user says the first time: "memo save my guest wifi code, it is a z one two three five two." Lumyeye Pro confirms: "Guest wifi code saved locally on your phone." Three weeks later, when her sister-in-law asks for the code, she simply says: "memo read, what is my guest wifi code" and Lumyeye Pro re-reads: "Guest wifi code: a-z-1-2-3-5-2."

Local memo is designed for useful daily information: wifi codes, building codes, addresses (orthoptist, lab, doctor), secondary phone numbers, birthdays, reference numbers (insurance card, supplemental insurance number). Users typically store between 10 and 30. Beyond that, finding the right memo by voice becomes less smooth.

Information is stored exclusively on the iPhone, in a local encrypted space. No information is sent to Lumyeye servers, not even for temporary analysis. If the user changes iPhone, memos are not automatically transferred: they must be redictated on the new phone. This choice is intentional, to guarantee full privacy.

Usage recommendation: do not save bank passwords in plain text in memo. For ultra-sensitive information, use iCloud Keychain or a dedicated password manager (1Password, Bitwarden). Local memo is designed for useful but non-critical information. Available exclusively on iOS 17.6+, from $16.99/month.

Frequently asked questions

Privacy, deletion, security — your questions.

Are memos stored on Lumyeye servers?

Lumyeye operates no memo storage server. Memos are encrypted locally on the iPhone with AES-GCM 256 bits, with a Keychain key that never leaves the device (ThisDeviceOnly attribute). However, the "memo read" command temporarily sends the memo list to Google Gemini to perform semantic matching with your question (no Gemini-side storage, but content transits). The "list" and "recent memos" commands stay strictly local. If you delete the Lumyeye Pro app, all memos are erased.

How many memos can I save?

No strict limit set by Lumyeye Pro. Users typically store between 10 and 30: wifi codes, building codes, addresses, reference numbers, useful dates. Beyond that, finding the right memo by voice becomes less smooth.

How do I delete a memo?

Say "memo delete my wifi code" or "memo delete the orthoptist address". Lumyeye Pro asks for voice confirmation before erasing. To delete everything, say "memo delete all": the app requires a strong confirmation before erasing the whole set.

Should I save my bank passwords as a memo?

No, that is not recommended. Local memo is designed for useful but non-critical information: wifi codes, addresses, reference numbers, dates, contacts. For bank passwords and other ultra-sensitive information, prefer iCloud Keychain or a dedicated password manager (1Password, Bitwarden).

How is local memo different from iCloud Keychain?

iCloud Keychain is a password vault synced across all your Apple devices via iCloud (so copies at Apple). Lumyeye Pro local memo stays strictly on the phone — no sync, no copy anywhere else, not even at Apple. If you change iPhone, your memos disappear (maximum default privacy). For everyday info (wifi codes, addresses), local memo fits better. For critical passwords needing recovery, iCloud Keychain stays better.

What happens to my memos if I change iPhone?

Memos are not transferred automatically to the new iPhone. You must redictate them aloud on the new phone. This choice is intentional: no copy exists anywhere other than your current iPhone, guaranteeing full privacy. For critical info, also keep a paper note stored at home.

Testimonial

Aicha, 45, Lille.

"I used to spend my day calling my husband: wifi code, orthoptist address, intercom code. He was getting annoyed, and I felt dependent. With local memo, I took back control over my twenty everyday pieces of information. For really sensitive codes — debit card, bank — I don't use the app, I keep them in a paper notebook at home. The memo is for daily life."

Practical tips

Master local memo.

  1. Choose memorable keywords. When saving, phrase clearly: "memo save my guest wifi code". Later you'll ask "memo read my guest wifi code" using the same keyword. Avoid different phrasings between save and read.
  2. Store everyday codes. Wifi codes, building code, parking code, insurance card number, addresses of regular doctors, birthdays of loved ones: everything you used to ask on paper or to family members.
  3. Don't save bank passwords. For ultra-sensitive information (bank passwords, credit card codes, tax IDs), prefer iCloud Keychain or a dedicated password manager which encrypts and protects differently.
  4. Re-read occasionally to check. Once a month, ask "list" or "recent memos" to listen to the last 5 saved. You spot obsolete memos (old wifi code, old address) to delete.
  5. Keep a paper backup of vital codes. Local memo disappears if you delete the app or change iPhone. For truly important information (wifi codes, emergency contacts), also keep a paper note stored at home.
