Light detector by sound

Hear how bright a room is. Lumyeye Pro uses the light sensor in an iPhone or Android phone: the tone is high in bright light and becomes lower as the light fades.

How does Lumyeye Pro detect light?

Using the phone’s light sensor, Lumyeye Pro turns the surrounding light level into sound. A higher pitch indicates stronger light; as the light decreases, the pitch gets lower. You can listen to the change without needing to see the screen.

Before leaving a room, this helps you check whether the light is still on, so you can avoid unnecessary electricity use. If you want a brighter or softer ambience, adjust a lamp or dimmer and listen as the tone changes.

The detector is built into Lumyeye Pro on the phone you already carry. It offers an alternative to a separate light detector that may be heavy and expensive. The tone helps compare relative light levels; it is not a calibrated lux reading.

Frequently asked questions

Light levels, pitch and phone compatibility.

What does the pitch mean?

A high tone means more light. The tone becomes lower as the surroundings get darker.

Can I use it on iPhone and Android?

Yes, on compatible phones with a light sensor. Lumyeye Pro is available on iOS 17.6+ and Android 9+.

Does it switch on the flashlight?

No. The detector measures ambient light. LED Flash by Voice is the separate feature for switching the phone’s LED on and off.

Everyday uses

Use the light detector at home.

  1. Check a room before leaving. Listen for the tone to tell whether the lights are still on.
  2. Adjust the ambience. Dim or brighten a lamp and listen as the pitch changes.
  3. Use the phone you carry. There is no separate detector to bring along.
